Fast forward 200 years and we have Cryptocurrency, almost impossible to forge or counterfeit because of thousands of “users” record and approve transactions. Nowadays, if you visit Las Vegas, you can find a “Coinsource ATM,” where you can buy or sell Bitcoins and dollars will be deposited or withdrawn at a “digital wallet.” Bitcoin’s transparency and decentralization attracts both anarchists and investors. Labor Law: New York State Paid Sick Leaves
On April 3, 2020, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law the 2021 budget which, notably for employers, includesanew statewide paid sick leave requirement. This will require New York employers of all sizes to provideacertain amount of paid or unpaid sick leave to be used for certain medical and employee safety-related reasons. The paid sick leave requirements will take effect on September 30, 2020. However, employees may be restricted from utilizing accrued sick leave until January 1, 2021. Real Estate: Small Claims Assessment Review (“SCAR”) Program
New York States created SCAR proceedings in 1982 to provide owners of 1, 2 or 3 family owner-occupied dwellings, or owners of properties that are unbuildable, an opportunity to challenge the tax assessment on their properties. It is an inexpensive alternative to the more formal tax certiorari proceeding found in RPTL Article 7. We are proud to announce that our associate Donghoo Sohn is a SCAR hearing officer.
